DEFINITION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ITS SCOPE
Artificial intelligence was first coined by John McCarthy in 1956 at a Dartmouth Conference. At the conference it was stated that the main goal of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) is to know and model human thinking processes, which will then be implemented into machine designs so that they can do what humans can do.
DEFINITION
Artificial intelligence or Artificial Intelligence is a field of computer science that makes computers act like humans. There are two parts needed to carry out artificial intelligence applications, namely the Knowledge Base and the Inference Engine. There are two parts needed to carry out artificial intelligence applications, namely the Knowledge Base and the Inference Engine.
THE ADVANTAGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND NATURAL INTELLIGENCE.
Each system created has advantages and disadvantages, the following are the advantages of each of these systems:
Advantages of Artificial Intelligence:
- Permanent
- Easier to duplicate and distribute
- Cheaper than natural intelligence
- Artificial intelligence is consistent
- Artificial intelligence can be documented
- Can do the job faster and better
Advantages of Natural Intelligence:
- Creative
- allows humans to get hands-on experience
- Human thought can be widely used
- Artificial Intelligence Components

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOUNDATION
To be able to make an artificial intelligence program requires a good and correct foundation, because this will allow the intelligence system to function as previously planned. The following are the foundations that must be known in compiling an artificial intelligence system:
COMPUTING INTELLIGENCE VS CONVENTIONAL
The processing of artificial intelligence systems has significant differences compared to conventional methods of processing data in processing. the difference lies in the memory system that is in the computer. To be able to understand more clearly, the following is an illustration of AI computing.
- artificial intelligence vs conventional computing
- Some examples of applications that use Artificial Intelligence
- applications using artificial intelligence
SOFT COMPUTING
Soft Computing is a combination of methodologies that aim to ensure there is no tolerance for discrepancies or partial correctness in a program so that it can be completed easily, accurately and at low cost.
BASIC ELEMENTS IN SOFT COMPUTING
- – Fuzzy System
- – Neural Networks
- – Probabilistic Reasoning
- – Evolusionary Computing
